Portable typewriter from about 1935 made by L.C.Smith. This example is equipped with an animal themed keyboard that was marketed as a tool to assist young children to learn to type. It is in poor condition, with damage to paint, and generally inoperable. It is missing its case. In the midst of the depression, L. C. Smith decided to offer a typewriter with animal themed keys to assist children to learn to type. This feature came at extra cost, and in the midst of the depression very few seem to have been sold.
